Q: May I put painted slate outside?
A: While our products will weather fairly well, like any other item exposed to the elements, we suggest that you put them on an overhang porch or patio. While each piece is varnished for protection, you will increase the life of the product by doing so. If hung outside, please check the condition of the leather strap periodically, as it will eventually rot. Our large Welcome and Personalized ovals, measuring 12.5"x 9.5", are double varnished front and back since there is a high likelihood they will be used outdoors.
Q: Can I place one of your clocks outside?
A: Most of our clocks will naturally be home decor items. Direct exposure to the elements is not recommended. However, each clock's works are protected by a cover, just in case a clock is placed outdoors (preferably under an overhang).
Q: Is the product fragile, thus incurring breakage in shipping or handling?
A: Slate is a rock, thus it is very durable. Its primary use is for roofing shingles or for other architectural purposes. It is not unusual for a slate roof to last 80-100 years. Dropped on a concrete floor, plaques will likely chip or break, but otherwise, one does not need to treat our plaques as delicate items. Each piece is shipped in an individual custom bubble bag and interface each layer in the carton with delicate foam padding. However, should a piece arrive broken or chipped, we will gladly replace it.
Q: My clock does not work. What should I do?
A: Here are some tips:
1. For a clock without a pendulum, look for a small "on/off" switch on the back of the clock. Try turning the switch on.
2. Try inserting a fresh battery. Make sure the battery is inserted in the correct direction. Instructions are diagrammed inside the battery compartment.
3. For clocks with a pendulum, make sure the clock is hanging flush with the wall. If the clock is leaning forward or backward, the pendulum may become impeded and not swing freely.
Q: Where are the candles and wood scroll art?
A: Both have been discounted for the time being. We still carry both for local shows and such but are not displaying at Modern Gift Market. Email us if you have a request for either.
